The Great Lakes is a private competition slalom ski site with two lakes located in Newberry Springs, California ( off I-40; halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Nevada). "The Great" offers a full range of water sports activities that includes slalom course skiing, tricking, wakeboarding, and tubing.   Lake #1 offers Owners and Members unlimited skiing from sun up until sun down. Once arriving at the lake a skier or rider will set themselves into the rotation for their turn to ski or ride. Each skier or rider is based on a 6 pass set (that means up and down the lake 6 times or 15 minutes) before the next skier or riders enters the water. Boats tow ski or riders one at a time providing the ultimate safety for skiers old and young.  Every experience is without other boat traffic during your ski ride.  Lake #2 offers  exclusive rentals for large groups and ski clubs, novice or experienced skiers.  Members/Lake Renters must be USA Waterski Insured and sign Release of Liability.  Members/Renters boats must be AWSA Tournament Approved Ski Boat and also be free of Zebra Mussles.  Please obey The Great Lakes Rental Rules posted on our Cabana.  Do you hear "the great" calling you?

Lake #2 is a championship water ski lake for memberships and water ski club rentals. Included in your membership, we provide you with access to our additional amenities. Our facility includes full grassy professionally maintained lawn. A cabana,  fully covered ski dock that includes picnic benches for the skiers and riders,  an outdoor shower and restrooms. We offer a built in BBQ area  that is available for all Members to use and enjoy at the lake. Along with family style parties, BBQ’s, friendly large shaded grassy park for camping and walking and jogging trails. We also offer Electric hook-ups for your RV.  With our beautiful setting, Great Lakes offers a great 1 mile walk around the lake. Our site is lined with a full mature landscape with trees that provide wind protection and shade that makes our facility the best conditions when the weather decides to be uncooperative. Leashed  pets are welcomed.  Gasoline, ice and quick-stop shopping is just 5 minutes from the lake or 20 minutes to Barstow.

Don't forget to bring your fishing poles and lures if you want to catch "Lunkers"!  Many of us have caught these trophy sized large mouth bass from our lakes.  Our fish are hungry!  Unfortunately, you can't take these monsters home as we have a strict "catch and release" policy.

Do you have Quads, Dirtbikes or UTVs?  There are many trails just outside our fences!  Head just a couple of miles north and you'll be in SAND!  If you want to venture out, Calico Ghost Town OVH is close by (15 miles away) and Dumont Dunes (mini Glamis) is a little over an hour away.  Head out early in the morning for some off-road adrenaline and be back mid-afternoon with your ski/wakeboard for some "GLASS"!
